Why we started Zarlo

[Placeholder] Most software directories are pay-to-play — vendors buy placement, reviews are unverified or incentivized, and "editorial" coverage is often just repackaged marketing copy. We built Zarlo because we wanted a directory we'd actually trust: no pay-to-rank listings, reviews from real subscribers only, and editorial coverage written by people who actually use the tools they're covering.

How we're different

No pay-to-rank
Placement in the directory is never for sale. Every listing is reviewed on the same terms.
Verified reviews only
Reviews come exclusively from active, paying subscribers — no anonymous ratings, no incentivized reviews.
Real editorial coverage
Our articles are written by our team, not submitted by vendors and lightly edited.
No free tier, no ad noise
We’re funded by subscriptions on both sides, not advertising — so our incentives stay aligned with getting this right, not with maximizing pageviews.

Who's behind it
